Another dress day here in beautiful Santa Barbara!
I tried wearing this dress a couple months ago when the bump was smaller and it just made me look like a blimp, but I like it much better now that it’s obvious that there’s a babe in there!

This may be one of the weirdest outfits that I’ve ever put together… and I also may really like it… the jury is out.
I’m getting tired of my jeans/tank/cardi combo and the beautiful weather that we’ve been having makes me want to wear a dress, but until today I have been unsuccessful at putting any of my (casual) dresses on the bump. (and I’m not quite ready to call this one a success yet…)
Dress: Anthropologie
Cardi: (I know, another cardi!) Anthropologie
Belt/Ribbon: snagged off of a Target dress that I’ve had for ages
Shoes: TOMS Crochet Classics

No yoga pants here, folks!
A few quick snapshots from days that I actually remembered to capture my yoga-pants-less outfits. Nothin’ too special, but a vast improvement from my previous attire.
I also have yet to go a day without doing something purposeful with my hair, which is 95% of the time actually wearing it down which I used to only do about twice a month. Nails get repainted every few days, and I’ve only gone one day without makeup.
No more preggyfrump… I get all the sweets.
(I’m noticing that I may have a thing for cardigans… apparently I wear one every day…)
Cardi’s: Old Navy (blue and cream), H&M (hearts), and Love Culture (gray)
Dress: Love Culture
Jeans: Lucky (all three… told you they were my faves!)
Tops: All three are tanks from Love Culture (I’m a sucker for $4 tanks…)
Jewelry: Tiffany’s necklace and my purple (tanzanite) ring, typewriter key necklace from my sister and David Yurman ring

30 weeks!

How Far Along: 30 weeks!

Size of the Baby: Around 16 inches long and 3 pounds!

Cravings: Still on a strawberry kick (not surprising since they are my all-time favorite food), sweets galore, rotisserie chicken, romaine/iceberg lettuce dipped in ranch dressing (yes, dipped… I have to eat it piece by piece with my fingers because for some reason completely unknown to me it just tastes SO much better that way. Also, this was a biggy in the 1st trimester that has made it’s way back around big time) and last but not least: pasta- just give me some noodles and a jar of alfredo sauce and we’re good to go.

Sleep: Ha… sleep… that’s funny. What is that exactly? Ohhh, that thing that my husband does really well? Yeah… some people… they have all the luck. Despite the lack of sleep though, I still have a good amount of energy during the day so it really doesn’t bother me at this point. It’d just be nice to be laying in bed awake staring at my baby instead of the games on my phone.

Gender: Beautiful baby girl!

Weight Gain: +10 pounds. Going at a steady 1lb per week rate for now…

Maternity Clothes: Currently boycotting. All the shirts make my lady parts look even bigger (yeah, it’s possible) and while there’s nothing wrong with the pants, my favorite pair of jeans still fit (with a hair-tie around the button) and well, there’s just no competing with my favorite pair of jeans.

Symptoms: I can’t really think of anything… I’d usually say heartburn but at the moment I can’t remember the last time that I actually had heartburn… or maybe I’m just so used to it now that I’m not consciously aware of it. Who knows…

Pondering: Getting excited for my upcoming baby shower. Can’t wait to see my mom and I always love getting to be with my mom and my sister at the same time since we live in 3 different places. This morning I was thinking about how easy this pregnancy has been. Of course anything can always be easier but I really can’t complain about anything. I don’t even have crazy hormones, I feel pretty much normal except for this little critter rolling around in my belly.

Favorite Moments:

-Being very very close to finished with the nursery, I love going in there and knowing I only need one more little thing before it’s ready for our girl - pics to come!

-Watching Hubby’s face light up when he felt by far the biggest kick/roll that he’s felt thus far. I didn’t even have to say my usual, “did you feel that one?” because the instant ear-to-ear grin answered for me.

-Passing all of my blood tests and gestational diabetes test “with flying colors” as my Dr said. Laughing that neither my sister nor I find the “diabetes” drink even remotely disgusting… we have serious sweet teeth.

Today I declared war against my 8 (or is it 9?) pairs of yoga pants.
These are my demands:
1. They are not allowed to leave the house unless I am going somewhere to exercise.
2. They must be removed promptly after exercising. (And no- “I’m going to exercise at some point today…” business.)
3. They are not allowed to be worn every day. If I wore yoga pants yesterday, guess what guys, no yoga pants today. No exceptions.
4. They are the sworn enemy. No, I do not care how comfy they are.
5. Their friends- dirty hair, frumpy t-shirt, chipped nail polish, and no makeup are not welcome either. I’m a pregnant housewife in a tiny house- there is absolutely no excuse to let these friends hang out with my yoga pants on my body. They can go hang out at someone else’s house who has multiple children and/or jobs/school.
I always dreamed of being one of those super-cute pregnant chicks that always made me so jealous… and now I’m finally the pregnant one and have I been super-cute? No. I’ve been super-lazy. The scary part is: if I let myself get this lazy with my appearance while pregnant, how much lazier am I going to get when I have a child to take care of? I might as well just buy a mu-mu and call it a day, right? My poor husband…
I had a little wake up call this morning because yesterday I went shopping downtown wearing yoga pants (not even my nice Lululemons, but my cheap, faded Old Navy ones), a tank top that I usually only wear as an undershirt, Uggs, a frump-a-licious sweater that should not be allowed out of the house, my dirty hair thrown into a stubby ponytail and no makeup. When I caught my reflection while standing in Nordstroms, I was embarrassed. Not only for myself, but for my sister-in-law who had to walk around all day with a preggyfrump. She was polite and said my appearance was acceptable because I was pregnant, but we both agreed that without the bump it would be (highly) unacceptable.
So here’s Day 1.
       Tank: Old Navy
       Cardi: Anthropologie
Jeans: my faves- Lucky (love that I can still wear them! Not buttoned obviously…)
       Shoes: Rainbows
       Necklace: made by me
*Also, I’ve asked my SIL to strictly enforce my war demands with hefty consequences: no sweets on days that I’m a frump. (Because let’s be honest here, sweets are the only thing that motivates me)

It’s finally official! We’re having a baby GIRL!!!! (Taken with Instagram at the bump)

It’s finally official! We’re having a baby GIRL!!!! (Taken with Instagram at the bump)

Our last Valentine’s Day as just the two of us… also the 7th anniversary of when we officially became a couple <3

love him.

23 weeks!

How Far Along: 23 weeks

Size of the Baby: 12 inches and about 1 lb

Cravings: strawberries. give me ALL of them. baked potatoes, yogurt, pizza, shrimp, desserts- yum!, mac n cheese, zucchini… i eat all the things.

Sleep: pretty good, went through a phase where my body basically decided that it didn’t need sleep but now i’m back to 9-10 hours a night.

Gender: first ultrasound looked like a boy, second ultrasound looked like a girl… so we go back in two weeks to find out for sure, but it’s most likely a little girl!

Weight Gain: +1 pound

Maternity Clothes: not really… most days i wear my regular clothes. jeans are all maternity but i don’t wear them very often since i’m just hanging around the house and running errands most days. other than that all of my yoga pants/jeggings/leggings fit fine, i just put them below the belly and most of my shirts are long enough to cover everything since long shirts have been the “thing” for a while now.

Symptoms: heartburn… ick. very ditzy and forgetful, the hubs keeps making fun of me. slightly irritable lately. lots of vurping (eww) brought on by the heartburn. low back pain right at my pelvis… feels like it’s just trying to adjust but can be pretty painful sometimes. nothing a little trip to my chiropractor can’t fix in two seconds. my belly seems to have exploded this week… i woke up one morning and thought i might have grown a second baby overnight… it’s amazing ;)

Pondering: all things girly. dresses, bows and shoes… oh my! trying to wrap my head around the sudden change in gender, and the fact that we could find out it’s still been a boy all along. silly kid wouldn’t uncross her/his legs during the ultrasound! it amazes me how much i already love this little babe who has yet to be seen, can’t wait to give her millions of kisses! also watching the hubs turn into a dad right before my eyes… love him. and last but not least- crafting galore… i can’t be stopped. constantly trying to think of what to make next.

Favorite Moments This Week: getting our first cloth diaper in the mail- it’s SO cute! also getting the amazing ERGO carrier that we registered for from one of the hub’s clients, whom i’ve never even met. feeling all the little kicks and punches everyday as usual and 4-5 times actually seeing the kicks on my belly! hearing baby’s heartbeat again at the doctor and hearing/feeling her move around like crazy- the dr said “wow! we got a happy little camper in there!”

Just finished crocheting another sleep sack for the babe.

Going out to dinner Friday night… 20 weeks!

Going out to dinner Friday night… 20 weeks!

hunger has just taken on a whole new meaning

i just laid on my couch for an hour (only 45 minutes after finishing breakfast mind you) wondering if i was coming down with the flu, or my stomach was trying to kill me, or if my breakfast was poisoned, or if the baby hates bananas… nope… none of the above… i was just hungry… ravenous… starving… 45 minutes after breakfast!

little tummy growls? a slight empty feeling in my stomach?

oh no no…

more like: nausea, stomach cramps, feeling of impending doom, and growls that could rival the king of the forest. no joke.
